It will be a year as of July since I was appointed to the Portola United Methodist Church as my first solo pastorate position. With understanding and support from you, I am learning the culture and the spirit of worship of the Portola United Methodist Church.
Now, we are looking forward to have a big celebration of our centennial day. It is an honor for me to be here to celebrate the centennial day with you. Our celebration is not only about the past but also about our future. It is time that we reflect on the past 100 years and look forward to the future.
I would like to have the centennial day be a turning point in re-envisioning of our mission. For our reenvisioning, I’d like to do “Catch Fire in 50 days” during the summer with the whole congregation in a small group setting. While we share our meditation on "Catch Fire", we will also share our visions for the future.
I’d like our church to go in the same direction as if we are in a same boat. Even though we have different talents and gifts, when we row to the same direction, we will experience the revival of our church over the survival of the church.
You are sincerely invited to get into the boat. :)
